The position of Team Leader in the Milling Department has become available at Roemer’s Grinding Works.

The outline of the roles is as follows:

A Machine Operator Team Leader is responsible for leading a team using Lean Principals with particular emphasis on achieving SLA targets and adhering to 5S expectations. A Team Leader is responsible for ensuring the processes and procedures in monitoring, maintaining and operating of machinery are correctly followed by their team. They are responsible for ensuring that cleaning and quality-checks of applicable machinery are carried out and that everything works as it should.

  • Drive the adoption of Lean Manufacturing with the aim of eliminating waste, maximising efficiency, and improving quality of work completed, by adopting a mindset of continuous improvement.
  • Manage team members to achieve Service Level Agreement (SLA) of at least 98%.
  • Reduce waste by reducing Defect waste and Waiting waste. Achieve a minimum Quality Yield of 95% each month. This is achieved by (amongst others):
  • Ensure team members contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to Roemer’s Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures.
  • Have a good understanding of how grinding and plaining machines, milling and turning machines, and furnaces should operate and be able to identify when they are not performing at their best. Know how to troubleshoot problems.
  • Provide input for team member KPAs.
  • Fulfill the role of a machine operator.

 

A successful candidate should have good leadership training and qualities, have experience in Lean Manufacturing or achieve their yellow belt in Lean Manufacturing within the first 3 months of employment. They should also have a qualification in Fitting and Turning and/or Milling.
